Christina Aguilera, Justin Timberlake and Eminem dominated nominations for the top four categories for the 46th annual Grammy Awards that were unveiled.
Outkast, Beyonce, Jay-Z and Pharrell Williams led the way with six nominations each from the 105 categories.
Pop heart throb Timberlake, outspoken rapper Eminem and the racy pop princess Aguilera stole two nominations apiece in the most prized categories when nods for music's highest honours were announced.
Timberlake took nominations for best album of the year for Justified and best record of the year for Where is the Love along with the Black Eyed Peas.
Black Eyed Peas and Timberlake also took a nod in the lesser category of best rap collaboration for the disc, while Timberlake won a fourth nomination for best pop male performance with Cry Me A River.
Eminem won nominations for best song and best record of the year for Lose Yourself while multi-pierced Aguilera walked away with a best song and best pop female performance nod for Beautiful.
