One of the more successful chart albums this year is Christina Aguilera's Stripped.
The album has been in the charts for 51 weeks and is still in the top 20. On one track, I'm OK, Aguilera sings very candidly about domestic violence, and how she and her mother suffered at the hands of her father.
Yesterday, the 23-year-old pop star visited the Women's Centre and Shelter of Greater Pittsburg, and donated $200,000.
"Shelters are so important," she said. "I've seen that in my life first hand, and I always thought that if I was ever in a position to make a difference, I wanted to do something to help."
